廖少林教授，中山大学

Prof. Shaolin Liao obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 2008, from the University Wisconsin, Madison and B.S. in Materials Science Engineering in 2000, from Tsinghua University. Dr. Liao has performed two terms of Postdoctoral Research from 2008 to 2013: one in Physics department of City University of New York (CUNY), from 2008 to 2010 and the other in Nuclear Science Engineering division of Argonne National Laboratory (ANL), a US Department of Energy laboratory managed by UChicago Argonne LLC, from 2010 to 2013. He was later promoted as a R&D Scientist in Nuclear Science Engineering division of ANL since 2013. At the same time, he was hired as a Research Professor and Adjunct Faculty of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) of Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), since 2019. In 2021, Dr. Liao was hired as a Professor of School of Electronics and Information Technology (SEIT), under the category of “Disciplinary Leader” of the  “Hundreds Talents Program” of Sun Yat-Sen University (SYSU). Prof. Liao’s research focuses in the multidisciplinary area of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Electromagnetics and Photonics. He has published nearly 100 papers in peer reviewed journals and conferences. At the same time, he serves as Editorial Board of many journals like IEEE Access. Prof. Liao was promoted as the IEEE Senior Member in 2015.

廖少林教授于清华大学和美国威斯康星大学麦迪逊分校 (University of Wisconsin, Madison, UW-Madison) 分别获得材料科学与工程的学士和电子与计算机工程的博士。同时还获得了材料科学和电子工程的双硕士，均在UW-Madison取得。曾先后在纽约城市大学（City University of New York, CUNY）皇后学院（Queens College）的物理系和美国能源部的第一个国家实验室-阿贡国家实验室 (Argonne National Laboratory , ANL) 的工程物理部门进行了2任博士后的多学科交叉融合科研。并于2009年11月在CUNY被提升为兼职助理教授 (Adjunct Assistant Professor) 和2013年11月在 ANL 被提升为长聘电子工程师（Electrical Engineer）。2019年2月被聘任为美国芝加哥伊利诺伊理工大学（Illinois Institute of Technology, IIT）电子与计算机工程系教授 (Professor)。2021年2月，被中山大学“****”引进为领军人才-学科带头人，教授和博士生导师。廖教授主要从事人工智能，电磁波与光多学科交叉融合与创新科研，目前已经在学术期刊，杂志和会议上发表论文近百篇，同时为包括IEEE等期刊的主编和编委。廖教授于2015年被评为IEEE高级会员。
